CMR findings in asymptomatic male HIV patients compared to healthy male controls

چکیده
Background The increased survival associated with the advent of antiretroviral therapy (ART) for HIV in the mid-1990s has been accompanied by an increase in cardiovascular comorbidity and mortality. Atherothrombosis, myocardial disease, hypertension, diabetes, and pulmonary hypertension have been identified as entities associated with treated disease and the risk of major cardiovascular events is higher than in the uninfected population. HIV patients on ART are at higher risk of developing left ventricular (LV) systolic dysfunction, and more recent studies have additionally demonstrated significantly higher levels of diastolic dysfunction and LV hypertrophy to controls.

Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Reveals Signs of Subclinical Myocardial Inflammation in Asymptomatic HIV-Infected Patients.
BACKGROUND People living with chronic HIV infection are at an increased risk for cardiovascular disease. With this study, we aimed to determine the extent of cardiovascular involvement in asymptomatic HIV-infected patients by a comprehensive cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) approach. METHODS AND RESULTS Asymptomatic patients with chronic HIV infection undergoing combination antiretroviral the...
متن کاملSero-prevelance of Cytomegalovirus and Toxoplasma Infections among Newly Diagnosed HIV Patients in Iran; Assessing the Correlation with CD4+ Cell Counts
Background and Objective: Opportunistic infections are the leading cause of death among patients subjected to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). The aim of this study was to compare the seroprevalence of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and toxoplasmosis infection in newly diagnosed HIV infected patients with healthy controls and it’s correlat...
متن کاملPathway Analysis of miRNA-1 and Its Expres-sion Evaluation in Donor’s Serum from HIV-Positive Individuals vs Unaffected Controls
Background MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding RNA molecules (19-24 nucleotides) that play a major role in a wide range of biological processes through post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Differential expression of miRNAs has been reported in various infectious diseases such as HIV infection. The characterization of miRNA expression profiles, especially in mammalian biofluids, whi...

متن کاملTetanus and Diphtheria Seroprevalence in Patients Infected With Human Immunodeficiency Virus
Background and Objectives: HIV infected patients are at risk for vaccine-preventable infections such as tetanus and diphtheria (Td). In these patients, these antibodies tend to decline faster. Due to the limited data, this study assessed the seroprevalence of tetanus and diphtheria antibodies in HIV infected patients in Tehran, Iran. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was carried o...
